When you create an account we collect your email address, display name, and any profile information you choose to provide (instruments, genres, bio, and location). We do not require your real name or phone number.
We use your information to:
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
We use browser local storage to keep you logged in between sessions and to remember your theme preference. No advertising or tracking cookies are used.
Your public profile information (display name, bio, instruments, genres, and posts) is visible to other logged-in users. Your email address is never shared publicly.
You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page. When you delete your account we anonymise it rather than perform a full hard delete: your username and email address are replaced with an opaque placeholder (deleted_<random>), your profile fields (display name, bio, location, links, gear) are blanked, your profile picture is removed from storage, and your active sessions are revoked immediately.
Content you authored that other users may have replied to or relied on — posts, comments, marketplace listings, jam events, and direct messages — is retained but attributed to “[deleted user].” This preserves the integrity of conversations other people participated in. If you need a specific post or message removed individually, please use the in-app delete controls before deleting your account.
Server access logs and security audit logs are retained for up to 90 days for abuse-prevention and legal-compliance purposes, then automatically purged.
Under GDPR and CCPA you have the right to access, export, and request deletion of the personal data we hold about you. You can exercise these rights directly from the Settings page:
If you cannot access the Settings page (for example, because you have lost access to your account), contact us and we will action your request within 30 days.
We use industry-standard TLS encryption for data in transit and store passwords using one-way hashing. Use a strong, unique password for your account.
For privacy-related questions or data removal requests, please contact us.
